MANUFACTURER OF INDUSTRIAL GASKETS
AND GASKET RAW MATERIALS

PTFE SHEETS & GASKETS

AF4400 PTFE provides excellent thermal insulation and is the most chemically resistant plastic known. It is unaffected by most corrosive liquids, vapors and gases. PTFE will insulate to 500 volts per mil and does not melt. Because of these properties, PTFE gaskets, washers and seals are used in the following industries:

  • Electrical Applications
  • Food, Beverage & Pharmaceutical
  • Laboratories
  • Petrochemical & Chemical Processing
  • Semi-Conductor

PTFE resin performs well in many applications without fillers i.e. in its "virgin" state. In fact, fillers can lessen its outstanding electrical and chemical properties. In mechanical applications, however, compounds of PTFE and inorganic fillers offer improved wear resistance, reduce creep and initial deformation, and increased stiffness and conductivity. Hardness is increased, and the coefficient of thermal expansions is decreased. Compounds can therefore make it possible to gain the advantages in applications where the unfilled resin cannot be used.
Araflex is a manufacturer of a variety of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) material. Considered to be one of the most commonly available gasket materials in the marketplace today, we offer the following solid sheets (virgin PTFE), skived, reinforced and 100% expanded PTFE material:

AF-4000: PTFE Sheet (virgin solid sheet)

AF-4500S: Reinforced PTFE with silica filler resistant to: Strong acids (except hydrofluoric), solvents, hydrocarbons, water, steam, chlorine, and cryogenics.

AF-4300G: Reinforced PTFE with glass microspheres filler resistant to: Moderate concentrations of acids and some caustics, hydrocarbons, solvents, water, refrigerants, and cryogenics. Glass has little effect on most of the electrical properties of PTFE.

AF-4400B: Reinforced PTFE with barium sulfate filler resistant to: Strong caustics, moderate acids, chlorine, gases, water, steam, hydrocarbons, and aluminum fluoride.

AF-4200E: Expanded PTFE sheet is much softer and more flexible than regular PTFE and thus conforms easily to irregular and rough surfaces. The material is easier to compress and minimizes creep and cold flow.
Additional PTFE material is available upon request
